We are open all year round except for bank holidays and during the Christmas period.
OPENING HOURS
Playhouse Day Nursery opened in January 1994. It is a private all day care facility for pre-school children. We also provide a small number of places for before and after school for Lakeside Primary School.
Playhouse is owned and managed by Mrs Rochelle Corbett who has an honours degree in Early Childhood Studies and has also been awarded Early Years Professional status.
Rochelle has over 20 years’ experience of working in childcare as well as having her own children. All the supporting staff are very well qualified and all are experienced in pre-school childcare.
We have three large playrooms, two of the playrooms have adjoining enclosed all weather playgrounds (with safety surfaces) to encourage free flow play, a separate ‘quiet room’, child sized conveniences and a sensory room. See here for more details.

We offer many different types of care to suit every situation including full time, short days, morning and afternoon sessions and before and after school care.
OUR POLICIES
We have many policies that give each child the best possible start in life.
They are available for all parents and carers to see at any time.
They all comply with the purpose and aims of the EYFS which is given legal force through order and regulations made under the Childcare Act 2006.
MY POLICIES
Accidents and medication
We will only administer medication or treatment to children if it has been discussed with the parents and prior written consent has been given. This is in case your child has any allergies that we are not aware of.
Any accidents or treatments given will be recorded in a book with parents signatures acknowledging the entry.
In partnership with parents/carers
We provide settling in visits and introductory sessions. These will be provided free of charge over a one or two-week period, dependent on individual needs, age and stage of development.
Every child in the nursery is allocated a key personore before he/she starts to attend. This key person welcomes and looks after the child ensuring that their care is tailored to meet their individual needs.
Around the nursery
We have a first aid kit, smoke alarms fitted on all floors, a fire blanket & extinguishers. Also an electronic carbon monoxide detector placed accordingly.
Fire drills held with the children at least once a month.
At Playhouse, our aim is that the children in our care will be, above all, happy and safe.
We provide an environment and activities to encourage enquiring minds to develop their knowledge about the world around them, their own independence and self-esteem.
To facilitate this, the professionals in our employ provide a vast variety of experiences and learning opportunities. These take the form of ‘free flow’, and short ‘teaching’ sessions.
Activities include sand, water, dressing up, cooking, singing, music and movement, artwork (painting, crayoning, modelling, drawing etc), playing outside, stories and various pre-reading and pre-writing activities.
We try hard to make sure that every day is varied, interesting, educational and fun!!

ABOUT
A little about us and our setting
The most difficult thing a parent will ever have to do is to entrust their child with another adult.
At Playhouse we encourage prior visits to our nursery before a place is taken up permanently. This will give your child time to get used to us and for us to learn about them.
It will also give you peace of mind when you leave them for their first full session.
Sometimes a child will cry when you are leaving them - please be assured that this will probably upset you for far longer than your child, they are usually playing happily within ten minutes of you leaving or even by the time you reach the nursery gate!
You are welcome to phone for reassurance at any time. We are happy to give you a ‘fly on the wall’ account of what your child is up to!
